Jim Carriere Elected to Board of Directors of Shelter Box

ShelterBox USA is pleased to announce the election of Jim Carriere of Oakland, California to the board of directors. ShelterBox USA is an international relief agency that delivers shelter and life-saving aid within days of a disaster. One of the top fundraising ShelterBox volunteer representatives in the nation, Carriere has helped to raise more than $172,000 dollars in the last fiscal year for the organization.

ShelterBox USA is pleased to announce the election of Jim Carriere of Oakland, California to the board of directors. ShelterBox USA is an international relief agency that delivers shelter and life-saving aid within days of a disaster. One of the top fundraising ShelterBox volunteer representatives in the nation, Carriere has helped to raise more than $172,000 dollars in the last fiscal year for the organization.
Carriere began the first 18 years of his 25-year banking career with California Savings Bank in San Francisco. There he held many managerial positions, including a position in which he responsible for the operations of 18 branch offices and enterprise wide policy and procedures for compliance with state and federal regulations. In late 2002, Carriere received an offer to join First Federal Savings and Loan Association of San Rafael, a federally-chartered mutual savings association in Northern California and has spent the past seven years as Vice President-Retail Banking.
A leading fundraising representative for ShelterBox, Carriere regularly gives presentations and participates in events for the organization. While many representatives cover one Rotary district, Carriere regularly gives presentations in four districts. Carriere has also recruited and trained many of the ShelterBox volunteers in his region.
"It has been such a pleasure getting to know my fellow volunteers and helping to spread the word in Northern California," said Carriere. "To now have an opportunity to do this on a national level is a challenge I fully accept and relish."
As a board member, Carriere will be charged with the development of the ShelterBox volunteer base in California as well as helping the $10 million organization grow to help 500,000 people each year.
"I believe ShelterBox USA is uniquely positioned for growth, especially on the West Coast," said Carriere. "I look forward to doing my part to help the organization grow and save lives, one box at a time."
Carrier joins 11 others on the ShelterBox USA board of directors.
