LOTS of CLUB News today!

1. Thought of the Day/ Biz Minute John was scheduled this morning as the Greeter but, between the heavy fog and change to Daylight Savings time, we are thinking John just decided to give himself a morning off. No problem as we had a small crowd this morning and Cindy was there with her smile and collecting everyone’s money . Susan led us in the Pledge. Note from Susan on Friday:  have tried to reach John via phone and it goes straight to message.
2. Guest Rotarians: None.
3. Guests of Rotarians (whom & introduced by whom): None.
4. Good News (who/ what/ Bell Ringer?): Susan started us off with her trip to the Big Island of Hawaii. She also brought in a “gift” from the Volcano national Park. Jim had some good news handed to him this morning- Helen has secured 4 restaurants, 3 of them new, for our annual fundraiser. Stacie paid a fine for her birthday which we sang to her last week at the Garden. John ‘outed’ himself for attending the Terra Linda Club’s fundraiser and let us all know about his company’s (West Bay Bavarian) new television commercial on Comcast. Kramer gave it a “thumbs up so must be a good one.
5. Birthdays, Anniversaries and Join Date Anniversaries: Willa’s husband Tyler is celebrating his birthday today. And by the way Willa, from last week’s breakfast in the Garden, congratulations on your weight loss! We are seeing the results. Tom was in Arizona this week, spring training, but we wanted to congratulate him on his 12th anniversary with Harbor.
6. Announcements:--- Susan noted Alex is our Greeter next week and, lucky mom Carol, gets to follow her on the 24th.  Bev is energized from PETS and looking forward to this Saturday's assembly, although she had a business conflict with this week's meeting.  Aref had to fly to Lebanon unexpectedly since he has a gravely ill nephew.  We have a card now for everyone to sign and Susan will bring it Saturday.
If anyone wanted their old badge: pick it up on the way out as we are tossing all at end of month!.
LUNCH CANCELED at Davidson.  See details below. Don’t forget brunch at Davidson Garden this Saturday. The kids are preparing the food using vegetables from the garden we helped build in 2005 and refurbish this year.

Also, coming up on Saturday April 25th is our Club’s service project. We’ll be joining other Marin clubs for “Rotarians at Work” day at Stafford Lake. Will do some weed pulling and of course fellowship with a great big pot luck. Susan wanted to again let everyone k now that  our old round badges were being recycled so if  you want your old badge, grab it before April 1.,

Millie, due to new job in the East Bay, can no longer attend our breakfast meetings. We are hoping she can transfer to an East Bay club. In the meantime Helen has stepped up and agreed to complete Millie’s term as the Membership chair. Thank you Helen.
Another member, Mary Sackett, has had changes in her workload and will not be able to continue with us . The hope is she will transfer to another Club if schedule permits. Susan wants to plan a special goodbye for Millie and Mary (and invite Theresa) sometime after school lets out.  Maybe at 101 Surf?
Brigette sent Susan a note that 18 Interact students showed up Monday night for ROTACARE orientation and every one stayed after the tour to get the forms to volunteer!

Finally Jim gave us an update on the restaurant fundraising and some “encouragement” to get out and get those commitments. We currently stand at 14 restaurants so we are almost there but would like to add even more if possible. Remember the money raised is for the our Club to support local and international projects.

DAVIDSON GARDEN VANDALIZED.  LUNCH CANCELED.  Lori Davis wrote Susan that the Garden had been seriously vandalized on Wednesday night.  By this morning (Friday), the school had trucks installing high security lights, cameras, and repairing the broken fencing and shed doors.  The immediate response made Lori very happy, since it shows how much this project and the Garden means to Davidson.  Lori thinks it likely that the new security will discourage the homeless invasion that has been happening on a regular basis.   THE STUDENTS STILL WANT TO RESCHEDULE LUNCH TO THANK US, SO WE WILL TRY TO FIND A TIME IN APRIL.

7. Today’s Speaker is: Actually two Speakers. Susan  was on the official agenda to help us all learned to navigate the
Clubrunner web site and Annika Osborne from Davison Middle School spoke to us about a few of Davidson’s upcoming college and career days.  After the meeting, Annika shared with Barbara and Susan a newspaper report from Sweden:  her grandfather was known as MR ROTARY.   In fact, her grandfather on the other side of the family was a Rotarian, so Susan is thinking....maybe Rotary is in her blood and we should encourage membership!!

General notes about speaker’s presentation: Susan ran us all through our Club’s Clubrunner site showing us how to access, what to access and how to make changes. There is a lot of information on Clubrunner for us to see. Almost anything and everything you wanted to know about our Club, our events, our speakers, past meetings, Board Minutes, directories,
etc. can be accessed through Clubrunner. Please take some time and check us it out.  Note added by Susan while editing:  I think it went over well, but since Stacie was spending the entire time sending text and email messages on her phone, at least one person (Stacie) didn't find it useful at all, obviously!!!  Noted two others checking phones, not to name names but let's just say District 5150 didn't teach "high ups" not to put away cells.  Maybe she should start a fining for cell usage?  (BTW, Carola owes one for one call!

Annika reminded us all of the upcoming Career day at Davidson and still looking for anyone with a passion to talk with 7th
the kids some “visuals” of what you do at work. Also have the 8th and the University of “U” day (colleges come to campus) coming up as well. Anyone who wants to be part of any of these events please contact Annika.

8. Today’s Raffle winner was: Helen who left early so Cindy pulled the marble. Was the white marble selected? Alas no white marble  How much?about $150.

Salutation: Cheers,
