San Rafael honors Harbor!

PROCLAMATION
 
WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of San Rafael Harbor has been serving our community since its founding on April 26, 2002; and
 WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of San Rafael Harbor has provided hours of volunteer work along with thousands of dollars supporting the needs of the local and global community; and
 WHEREAS, contributing to communities local and abroad, the Rotary Club of San Rafael Harbor has built computer labs in Lebanon, financed microloans in Ecuador, trained Rotarians to fit prosthetic hands in Mexico and Africa, and provided life-saving Shelter Boxes to communities stricken by catastrophes around the world; and
 WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of San Rafael Harbor has sponsored over 40,000 meals to the San Francisco/Marin Foodbank; and
 WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of San Rafael Harbor has an ongoing collaboration with the Recreational Center at the Albert J. Boro Community Center at Pickleweed Park to assist with its local efforts in San Rafael’s Canal neighborhood; and  
 WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of San Rafael Harbor has also greatly contributed to our community schools by donating dictionaries to elementary school students, volunteering at Bahia Vista and Laurel Dell Elementary schools, providing ongoing assistance in designing and planting the garden at Davidson Middle School, volunteering at career days, and sponsoring San Rafael High School’s Interact Club, boasting 25+ young members ready to change the world; and
 WHEREAS, Rotary International has designated January as Rotary Awareness Month.
 NOW, THEREFORE, I, GARY O. PHILLIPS, Mayor of the City of San Rafael, do hereby proclaim January 28, 2015, to be  
ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DAY
In the City of San Rafael, and urge all residents to thank them for their service to both local and international communities.
